Aerosmith in Bangalore

The Bad Boys, Aerosmith had Bangalore jumping and waving to their songs on Saturday but for me, it did not rise upto my expectations. Though songs like "Living on the edge" transported me to a time a little long ago, the ambience was the worst possible with people going on a smoking spree and the whole air reeking of the smoke. The police doing nothing about it.

The sound and the LCD display (the props) were all extremely good. But Iron Maiden, Bryan Adams and others who have been brought in by DNA earlier scored better than Aerosmith.

Another point is the foul language all these people use and which is hungrily lapped up by the audience. Eeeeks makes me want to puke....

Mungaaru MaLe

After a long time I watched a Kannada movie. It was refreshing to see a movie in a theatre. The music was very catchy with Kunal Ganjawala, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi, Shreya and Udit Narayan spinning their magic in Kannada . The songs "Onde Ondu saari" by Kunal Ganjawala and "Anisuthide" by Sonu Nigam had me humming them even days after I have watched this movie. Cinematography is simply superb. The story as such is just okay.

The First Audio Post

Suchin has finally done it. It has been on the anvil for quite sometime. Experimenting using different software and trying out at different times, using the laptop, desktop and whatever possible to get the best results. One look at the quality which was there in the audio blogging world was enough to put us off as we neither practice the songs at all and also are not that involved. However we decided to just do it and see how it goes. Suchin in this song has not practiced at all. It is just go sing..which is precisely what he has done. I have heard him sing and he has a very good voice and he sings absolutely very well in person. I think that with time and knowledge of better techniques in recording, we will improve.

I would onlye like to tell Suchin you did it and what a song to start it with. A classic with Ilayaraja and Vairamuthu at their best.

Now a long way to go

Guruvayoor Temple to Open its Doors to Yesudas?

Whenever I heard the song "Guruvayoor amabala nadayil oru divasam njaan pogum, gopura vaadil turakkum, nyaan gopa kumarane kaanum" sung so soulfully by K.J.Yesudas I used to internally shed tears wondering how bad our society can be.

Religion is only a way to God however one sees it. It is always left to the discretion of the person professing a religion to choose the path he decides to traverse in his quest to reach God. And we will all agree that the final power or God is ONE SUPREME. There is a shloka in Sanskrit which goes thus. "Akashath Pathitam Thoyam Yada Gathati Sagaram, Sarvadeva Namaskaram Keshavam Pratigachati" which means that whatever comes from the sky(meaning rain) goes towards the Sea. In the samw way, obeisance to any God, goes towards Keshava(meaning the Ultimate and not necessarily Vishnu). Such being the case why do we still go on discriminating on the basis of caste, class, religion. It disgusts me no end.

Imagine a person like Yesudas who has sung such wonderful devotional songs with the utmost bhakti denied entry into a temple based on his religion. This is laughable and shows the nadir that our society actually is in still.

Hence, it was with great joy that I read a news item in the Times of India that Yesudas might finally sing one of the innumerable songs he has sung in His praise in front of Him.And the news item says RSS too has not protested against this which is welcome. Only thingI am worried about is how the Devaswom authorities would treat this. Hope they too welcome this change and encourage this. I only hope that this happens and this starts a revolution of its kind opening the doors of our religious places to all who might want to find solace there.
